Great bottle cutter, I didn't follow the directions though in regards to running boiling hot water, what I found to be most effective was actually using a candle and keeping the score line about half an inch from the tip of the flame, and continuously turn the bottle so the score line gets heated evenly, stopping in one place for too long causes cracks, but warming the bottle for a good 2 minutes until you start to see it just start to blacken and then immediately running it under cold water does the trick for me. Thicker bottles I usually wait until the bottle actually gets blackened before running it under cool water. Gently tug on both ends until the bottle separates, gotten a clean even cut this way each time.

Great Product! To score glass bottles:
Score bottle with good steady pressure once around, making sure you didn't miss any areas.
(Over sink)Pour boiling water from tea kettle directly on the scored line while turning the bottle slowly(may need help).
Then run same scored line under cold water while turning the bottle. Watch in amazement!
Please place a towel in the sink before cutting and wear proper safety gear!

works good if you do a medium pressure score and keep it continuous movement and don't stop til you overlap where you started. use a candle stick (low heat) to heat score line up, then rub line with an ice cube, repeat 2 times and should pull apart easy or fall apart.

It's a marking tool. It doesn't actually cut the bottle. Works well enough and adjustable for different sizes of bottle. But you have to try to keep a steady hand so it marks the bottle evenly. You have to do the hot/cold thing with the string and ice bath for the bottle to actually cut where you marked.

I have not been able to cut a bottle with this, gave it two stars because it goes together well, just cant seem to make a cut. Maybe Im not doing something right bc im afraid to shatter glass but It shouldnt be this hard

Instructions weren't the clearest, they even suggested going on YouTube to look up different videos. The actual machine was difficult for me to adjust without pliers, but after using them to loosen things up it worked fine. A few bottles have turned out nicely for me so far, but it does take a good deal of practice.

This product is junk. I've done fine art for years and no matter how I try to make it work, it doesn't cut clean. Really, it would take an intense amount of effort to figure this out. If you are a hobbyist that just wants to make a few candles out of wine bottles and doesn't want to spend a life-time figuring out how to make this actually work, this product is not for you. I'm not even sure a lifetime would do it.
